Northern Stage Managing Director to Take Position in Minnesota this July

(White River Junction, VT – April 8, 2022) – Northern Stage announces today that Managing Director Irene Green will be returning to her roots in Minnesota and has accepted a new position as the Executive Director of the O’Shaughnessy, a performance venue on the campus of St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her departure from Northern Stage will be effective July 2, 2022.

Ms. Green has been a part of Northern Stage’s leadership since 2013, when she was hired as the Director of Sales & Marketing. She became the Associate Managing Director in January of 2018 and assumed the Managing Director Role in November of 2018. Green has played an instrumental role in the recent growth of Northern Stage, including the opening of the Barrette Center for the Arts in 2015, creating a community engagement model that now guides the company, driving the exponential growth of patrons and students served by the organization’s programming, and navigating Northern Stage through COVID-19 which resulted in the company being one of the first theaters in the country to re- open – in our newly created outdoor Courtyard Theater.

“We are grateful for Irene's spirited and exemplary leadership at Northern Stage for the last nine years," said Northern Stage Board of Directors Chair David Grant. “Her contributions to our continuing growth will leave an indelible mark on our organization. As we enter our 25th Anniversary Season, we are well-positioned to attract the highest caliber in leadership to partner with our visionary Producing Artistic Director Carol Dunne. Although Irene will be greatly missed, we wish her much success in this exciting opportunity she so richly deserves.”

Ms. Green commented that “My time at Northern Stage has been by far the highlight of my career to date. It has been such a wonderful place to work, dream and make a difference alongside a truly incredible team of staff and Board members. I am looking forward to the growth and opportunity that my new position will offer, including the chance to live and work in the same state as most

of my family members. I am incredibly optimistic for the future of the company. It is poised to continue producing breathtakingwork of the highest artistic excellence, and to continue the fantastic education programs that so deeply impact our local young people. This organization's bones are healthy and its heartbeat is strong. I am confident that Northern Stage will thrive and soar in the months and years ahead, and I look forward to celebrating all its future success, albeit from a different seat in the house.”

Adds Northern Stage Producing Artistic Director Carol Dunne, “It has been one of the great privileges of my career to work alongside Irene for nine years. She has led the company for the past three years with strength and integrity. Her leadership has helped to position Northern Stage for a bright and sustainable future.”

The Board of Directors will conduct a national search for a new Managing Director who is expected to assume the position at some point during our upcoming 25th Anniversary season.
