Jasmine writes: “This piece is about Yiping Weed, the owner of Yiping’s Asian Market. The piece is about the importance of food and family to Chinese culture, both in my personal life and for other people in the Upper Valley. Yiping’s Asian Market provides that taste of home to Asian people and the Upper Valley, which is what makes the store so important. Yiping and I talked about how she came to the US from China, opening the store, and her life in the Upper Valley.” It’s also a piece about how a small store can become an anchor for people longing for the tastes and smells of home.
