BARRE, VT — January 10, 2026

A wave of energy, compassion, and unmistakable Lions spirit filled the Canadian Club  as volunteers from across the region gathered to pack an extraordinary 30,000 meals for local families facing food insecurity. The event, organized by area Lions Clubs, transformed the hall into a humming assembly line of service—proof once again that when Lions unite, remarkable things happen.

The meal‑packing effort brought together Lions, community partners, and first‑time volunteers, all working shoulder‑to‑shoulder to meet a growing need. Tables were lined with ingredients, scales, sealers, and boxes, but the real power came from the rhythm of teamwork: scooping, weighing, sealing, and cheering each completed box.

Lion Carol Greene (Royalton, VT), organizer for Vermont Lions,  emphasized that the project reflects the Lions’ long‑standing commitment to hunger relief, one of the organization’s global causes. “Every meal packed today represents hope,” said one volunteer leader. “It’s a reminder that service isn’t abstract—it’s hands, hearts, and neighbors coming together to make sure no one is forgotten.”

Throughout the morning, the atmosphere blended efficiency with celebration. Teams encourage one another, and volunteers paused occasionally to recognize meal milestones. By the time the final box was sealed, the room erupted in applause—30,000 meals prepared, packed, and ready for distribution to local food shelves and community partners.

A huge thank you to our Lions friends from Maine, New Hampshire, and Connecticut who joined us to help and learn how to bring this powerful meal-pack program back to their own communities.

Here in the Upper Valley Lions from Royalton, Strafford and Windsor were on hand.  This is what Lions do best: serve together and multiply impact.
